Für Comic-Autor Christian Cooper sind Vögel die wahren Superhelden. Seit vielen Jahren ist er in der Vogelbeobachtung aktiv. Nun reist er nach Puerto Rico, um dort sehr besondere Tiere zu filmen.

Christian Cooper ist professioneller Comic-Zeichner. Doch seit frühester Jugend interessiert er sich leidenschaftlich für Vögel. Für „Vogelwild mit Christian Cooper“ unternimmt er spannende Reisen, um den Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauern mithilfe spektakulärer Bilder die wunderbare Welt gefiederter Kreaturen vor Augen zu führen. Dabei trifft er auch auf höchst seltene und äußerst faszinierende Arten. Sein Weg führt ihn in tropische Regenwälder, in Wüsten und auf entlegene Inseln. Dabei geht es ihm vor allem um den Schutz der Tiere. Im Zuge seiner Expeditionen trifft er zudem erstaunliche Menschen, die sich tagtäglich für den Erhalt bedrohter Spezies einsetzen. Egal ob Stadt, Park, Wald oder Wüste: Christian Cooper ist kein Weg zu weit, um seinem Publikum das Leben der Vögel näherzubringen. Für die Dreharbeiten zur ersten Folge reiste er nach Puerto Rico. Die Karibikinsel gehört zu den Außengebieten der Vereinigten Staaten. Das Klima ist tropisch feucht und in den Wäldern gibt es über 300 verschiedene Vogelarten. Einige davon sind endemisch. Zu ihnen zählt eine besondere Papageienart: die Puerto-Rico-Amazone. Während seiner abenteuerlichen Insel-Expedition entdeckt er überdies in einer Fledermaushöhle den winzigen puerto-ricanischen Grüntodi. Darüber hinaus wagt er sich hinter einen Wasserfall, um einen der geheimnisvollsten Vögel der Welt vor die Linse seiner Kamera zu bekommen. In weiteren Folgen geht es beispielsweise nach Hawaii. Auch dort gibt es eine faszinierende Vogelwelt. Ähnliches gilt sogar für New York. In den Straßenschluchten und Parks seiner Heimatstadt macht sich Christian Cooper auf die Suche. Außerdem ist er u.a. in Kalifornien und Washington D.C. unterwegs.
